It's that time of year when I like to check in on my New Year's resolutions and goals to see how things are going. Often I just need a reminder about things I wanted to accomplish this year to get back on track. Other times, I see I've accomplished quite a lot already, and still in other instances, my goal may have changed all together.
My first resolution was to try one new thing a week. I want to be sure to mix up my routine and get out of my comfort zone. I've tried a number of new things each week from new classes to new foods. I think, in my mind I wanted to try more profound new things, but nevertheless, I've done well at it. I have not been great about taking a mental note of when I tried something new so it really registers.
The second thing I have as a goal to do this year is to write my second book. I have started it and am working on it through taking The Writer's Path classes at Southern Methodist University. I am making progress slowly but surely. My goal is to have a full draft of my manuscript by the end of the year. Then I'll plan to use next year to revise and refine it.
My third goal was to become a more prolific blogger. I have done very well at this one, moving form one blog post a week to two. Thanks to The Secret and the Law of Attraction, I have lots of new things I'm thinking about to share in my blog.
The fourth was to stay healthy and fit. I fortunately fit into all my clothes. I work to stay committed to my exercise routine, but have also learned I could relax about it some too. I use a food diary, My Fitness Pal, to help me keep track of my food intake and exercise.
The fifth was to practice the Law of Attraction and the Art of Allowing. This resolution is centered on staying positive, choosing positive and happy thoughts, envisioning my best future and releasing it. Then I make the effort to allow things to happen rather than force them to happen. It's a challenging balance. In order to do grow my understanding of attracting positive things into my life through choosing positive thoughts, I've also been working on my sixth resolution, growing my meditation practice.
I've learned through repeating affirmations, quieting the mind, and listening to guided meditations that I've increased my awareness of the things around me. With greater presence of mind I am freed to make more sound choices that come from a place of allowing and love.
How are you doing on your resolutions? Leave comments below. I know we can achieve them simply by putting the intention out there. If you've gotten off track, I hope this will serve as a reminder to keep going because you can!
